How weight watchers points is calculated
The historical formula in U.S. Patent 6,040,531 is calories/50 + total fat grams/12 − dietary fiber grams/5, with the result rounded to the nearest half point. This old formula is not the current proprietary WeightWatchers Points algorithm; modern programs use different nutrition factors and personalized rules. A serving with 270 kcal, 14 g fat, and 4 g fiber gives 270/50 + 14/12 − 4/5 = 5.77, or about 6 historical points.
Historical classic estimate=max(0, round-to-nearest-0.5(calories/50 + total fat(g)/12 − dietary fiber(g)/5)); budget mode=entered allowance−points logged.A serving with 270 kcal, 14 g fat, and 4 g fiber gives 270/50 + 14/12 − 4/5 = 5.77, or about 6 historical points.
